Taking a break in the crystal clear waters of Hondo Creek on the Hill Country Half-Day.

Hill country half-day

This half-day ride through the Texas Hill Country SW of Kerrville is a great introduction and sneak-peek at some of the most beautiful scenery in the state. The tour starts in Kerrville where we traverse scenic SH16 South through Medina and into the "Cowboy Capital of Texas", Bandera. Passing through Bandera you'll be led on a loop to the West through multiple water crossings, beautiful hills, twists and turns on dirt and gravel roads. After a short return to pavement on Hwy 470 you will enjoy some great views and sweeping curves heading to our lunch stop in Tarpley, TX. After lunch we will lead you back to Kerrville for the end of the tour. Although this tour is great for the rider new to off-tarmac adventure, it is also incredibly beautiful and fun for the experienced rider as well.

The Texas Hill Country area is subject to severe thunderstorms and flash flooding. We reserve the right to alter or cancel a tour when weather make roads impassable or unsafe.

What should I bring?

We recommend a dual sport motorcycle with the ability to travel at speeds of 70 mph on the highway comfortably. Good dual-purpose tires with lots of tread are best. We use knobbies on our bikes, but unless it is extremely muddy from recent rain that is not necessary. We always encourage everyone to bring plenty of water, a camelbak-type hydration system works great. Having tools specific to your bike along with a tire repair kit is always a good idea.  Also don't forget to bring your riding gear and your adventurous spirit.
