2 Days, 3 Sisters

This 535 +/- mile 25-30% off-pavement adventure provides riders with the very best in Texas Hill Country scenery! See the famous 3 Sisters area (TX 335, 336, 337), that is consistently listed as one of the best rides in Texas and the US, from a slightly different point of view. Experience and discover the beautiful highways that make up the heart of the Hill Country along with back-roads and off-pavement riding any ADV rider will enjoy.   The fun begins at 9:00 am in Kerrville, TX where we will head West out of Kerrville through Hunt, TX and the beautiful Guadalupe River area on towards Vanderpool, TX. While enroute we will make a stop at the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum (http://www.lonestarmotorcyclemuseum.com/index.html) for a quick look at some great classic bikes. From Vanderpool we will continue West over some spectacular scenic roads through Leakey and on to lunch in Camp Wood. Just after lunch we will start a 50+ mile trek on unpaved roads North to Rocksprings where a quick pit stop will allow us to refresh and refuel for the second half of the day. After a quick highway ride we will ride some beautiful terrain switching from twisty pavement to dirt roads and water crossings as we make our way back through the hills to Leakey, and ultimately on to dinner in Kerrville. Day 2 will start out on a SE heading working our way through some great scenery and twisty roads passing Comfort, TX and on to the Cowboy Capital of the World,  Bandera, TX. Once in Bandera we will continue on South and West via dirt and gravel roads to near Tarpley, TX. Continuing westward you'll experience water crossings with rolling hills and views passing through Utopia (setting of the Robert Duvall/Lucas Black movie, Seven Days in Utopia) and continuing on to Leakey, TX. We will return via some very scenic roads to Kerrville arriving around 6:00 pm with ice cold drinks and food and a night in local hotel accommodations. The Texas Hill Country area is subject to severe thunderstorms and flash flooding. We reserve the right to alter or cancel a tour when weather make roads un-passable or unsafe. What level of experience is needed? This 2-day trip is planned to provide enough dirt and scenery to please the experienced rider while not getting too technical for the newbie. Leave your worries behind and rest assured, together, as a team we will help you through. These roads change with the weather, and more specifically, with each significant rainfall. Mostly the journey will be on category 1 dirt and gravel roads with several water crossings and some category 2 sandy areas possible. What should I bring? We recommend a dual sport motorcycle with the ability to travel at speeds of 70/80 mph on the highway comfortably. I always encourage everyone to bring plenty of water. A camelbak works great. Having tools specific to your bike along with a tire repair kit is always a good idea. Also don't forget to bring your riding gear and your adventurous spirit. What's included? These back-roads are our stomping grounds so all you have to do is focus on enjoying yourself and the surrounding scenery. Includes your Lunch, Dinner both days, lodging on Saturday night and a Adventure Tejas t-shirt.

After a short return to pavement on Hwy 470 you will enjoy some great views and sweeping curves heading to our lunch stop in Tarpley, TX. After lunch we will lead you back to Kerrville for the end of the tour. Although this tour is great for the rider new to off-tarmac adventure, it is also incredibly beautiful and fun for the experienced rider as well.

The Texas Hill Country area is subject to severe thunderstorms and flash flooding. We reserve the right to alter or cancel a tour when weather make roads impassable or unsafe.

Are you new to the ADV world?

No problem! This half-day trip is perfect for anyone wanting an introduction into ADV riding. Leave your worries behind and rest assured, together, as a team we help each other out. These roads change with the weather, and more specifically, with each significant rainfall. Mostly the journey will be on category 1 dirt and gravel roads with several water crossings.

What should I bring?

We recommend a dual sport motorcycle with the ability to travel at speeds of 70 mph on the highway comfortably. I always encourage everyone to bring plenty of water. A camelbak works great. Having tools specific to your bike along with a tire repair kit is always a good idea. Also don't forget to bring your riding gear and your adventurous spirit.

What's included?

We have ridden these roads many times and will be leading you the entire time, so all you have to do is focus on enjoying yourself and the surrounding scenery. Includes your lunch and a Adventure Tejas t-shirt.

We reserve the right to alter or cancel a tour when weather make roads impassable or unsafe. What level of experience is needed? This 2-day trip is planned to provide enough dirt and scenery to please the experienced rider while not getting too technical for the newbie.
